Save The Foals Pledge Page
Welcome everyone and thank you for taking the time to visit my pledge page. My name is Sonseria Hubbard and my goal with this page is to educate people about the peril of PMU horses.
Many people do not know that every year thousands of horses are sent to slaughter due to the premarian industry. PMU stands for Pregnant Mare Urine. The industry uses pregnant mares, mostly draft crosses, to collect urine used to produce hormone replacement drugs for women going through the change. Due to the industry thousands of foals are born each year and most of them end up in auctions and later at slaughter houses due to lack of funds on the ranchers part to care for that many horses, and lack of education for those taking the drug.
It is my personal goal to be able to help as many of these horses as I can. There are many mares as well as foals in dire need of caring adoptive homes. There are many wonderful groups helping to bring these horses into the United States and place them in supportive homes.These rescues include Heavenly Meadows Horse Rescue based out of Florida,

They have helped to place many of these mares and foals into great homes. Currently they are in need of adopters and donators to help save the 2006 foals. If these foals are not purchased before the end of October they will most likely end up on the auction block.
As an artist I am doing my part by creating equine art and auctioning it off on Ebay to raise funds to bring a foal of my own back to the United States. This can be a little costly due to the cost of the foal, the border and health checks, as well as the shipping from Canada to Texas. My goal is to try to raise a minimum of $1,500 to bring a foal back to the U.S. If at all possible I would like to save more than one. I hope that with your support you can help me to reach my goal of saving a life.

I wanted to put this update on the front page to let everyone know that I am not with the rescue. I am just an individual that has spoken with the rescue and I am trying to rescue a foal for myself. I am however giving out the information to anyone that is interested so that we can help get some more of these foals saved. I will post some more pictures of the foals on my page. I can't tell you one way or another if any of these are still available. They are all still listed on the United Pegasus site so I am not sure which ones have been adopted. You will need to speak directly with Helen Meredith with The United Pegasus Foundation her nbrs are (626) 279-1306, and cell nbr (951) 285-1266. Please let her know that I have sent you to her to adopt some of the foals. Please let her know what foal you are interested in. I will put the sire and foal nbrs under the pictures so that you can give her this information. The price for the foals is $500-$600, and there are also mares available which are $550. Please contact her asap as they are trying to get the information together on which foals will be adopted. Also please remember I am doing pet portraits and equine paintings on Ebay to save enough to adopt my own foal, so if you can help out I'd appreciate the help. Thanks for your interest.
